"Fervor - Pt. 4"
Title: Fervor Pt. 4 – From Passion to Power Text: Matthew 14:22–33 NKJV; Acts 2:14–41 Big Idea: Fervor doesn’t require perfection… it requires surrender to the Spirit. You can only be bold in this world if you’re surrendered to the Spirit. ⸻ Palm Sunday Frame (Matthew 21) • Palm Sunday = public passion • Crowds shouting “Hosanna!” • But days later… silence or rejection Key Truth: Passion without surrender is unstable. You can be excited about Jesus and still not be surrendered to Him. ⸻ 1. Daring Faith (Matthew 14:28–29) Peter stepped out before he had it all figured out. • Passion makes you move • But it doesn’t mean you fully understand God Key Line: God isn’t looking for polished faith… He’s looking for willing faith. ⸻ 2. Distracted Failure (Matthew 14:30) Peter sank when his focus shifted from Jesus to the storm. • Fear replaced faith • Distraction destroyed momentum Key Line: Passion without focus will always collapse under pressure. ⸻ 3. Dependent Surrender (Matthew 14:30–31) “Lord, save me!” • Not polished • Not impressive • Just desperate Key Line: The turning point of your life isn’t your failure—it’s your surrender. ⸻ 4. Spirit-Empowered Boldness (Acts 2:14–41) Peter stood up filled with the Spirit. • From sinking → standing • From fear → boldness Key Line: You don’t need more confidence—you need more surrender to the Spirit.
DESCRIPTION
Ever feel like your passion for God starts strong… but doesn’t last?
In this message, From Passion to Power, we look at Peter’s journey, from stepping out in bold faith, to sinking in fear, to being restored by Jesus, and finally becoming a Spirit-filled leader who changes lives.
Palm Sunday reminds us that it’s possible to be excited about Jesus without actually being surrendered to Him. And if we’re honest, a lot of us live right there.
This message is for anyone who:
Started strong but lost focus
Feels stuck between faith and fear
Wants to be bold but doesn’t feel ready
The truth is, you don’t need to have it all together. You just need to surrender.
Because fervor isn’t about perfection… it’s about being filled with the Spirit.
