Flip the Script Pt. 3

"Flip the Script - Pt. 3"

Big Idea

Your past—whether trophies or trauma—was never meant to be your home address.
In Christ, it becomes the place you launch from, not the place you live in.

Point 1 — You’re Not As Good As You Think You Are

Text: Philippians 3:4–6
Paul lists his spiritual résumé—not to flex, but to expose its limits.

Truth:
Success is not sinful—but it’s a terrible savior.

Key Quote:
👉 “Success is most dangerous when it convinces you that grace is optional.”

Sub Point — Changing the Scoreboard of Your Life

Text: Philippians 3:7–9
Paul reclassifies everything he once called “gain” as loss compared to knowing Christ.

Truth:
Righteousness isn’t achieved through performance—it’s received through relationship.

Key Quote:
👉 “Failure only wins when it becomes your identity instead of your instructor.”

Point 2 — You’re Not As Bad As You Think You Are

Text: Philippians 3:12–14
Paul admits he hasn’t arrived—but he refuses to live stuck in the past.

Truth:
Grace doesn’t erase your memory—but it refuses to let your past define your future.

Sub Point — Direction Matters More Than Distance

Text: Philippians 3:13–16
Maturity isn’t about how far you’ve come compared to others—
It’s about whether you’re still moving toward Jesus.

Key Quote:
👉 “God isn’t asking you to relive the past—He’s inviting you to lean into what’s next.”

Sermon Description

Your past doesn’t get the final word—Jesus does.

In Philippians 3, the apostle Paul shows us how to handle success without pride and failure without shame. Whether you’re carrying regret, striving for approval, or stuck replaying old seasons, this message invites you to flip the script and move forward with Christ.

This sermon is for anyone who’s ever thought:

  •  “I should be further along by now”
  •  “I’ve messed up too much”
  •  “If I just try harder, maybe God will love me more”
  • Jesus doesn’t offer a life upgrade, He offers new life.
