Fall Forward – “Peace in Chaos”

Fall Forward - "peace in Chaos"

Scriptures:
John 14:25–27; John 14:27; Mark 4:35–41

Big Idea: The world promises peace you can get, but Jesus offers peace He alone can give.

The World’s Peace: possessions, political power, escape, circumstantial calm, tolerance, self-reliance, relationships, temporary safety.

Definition of Peace: God’s wholeness in you, even when the world around you is falling apart.

3 Lessons from the Storm (Mark 4:35–41):
	1.	He’s not leading you into a storm, He’s taking you to the other side.
– Sudden moments aren’t surprises to Jesus.
– Don’t let “suddenly” rob you from permanent promises.
	2.	He’s shaping you through the storm, but don’t shape who He is out of the storm.
– Don’t turn on the Teacher in the trial.
– God is always bigger than the circumstance.
– You can carry peace even when you don’t feel it.
	3.	Don’t waste a storm — know Him more.
– The question isn’t “Who is He?” but “Who am I that I wouldn’t obey Him?”
– Every crisis is an invitation to deeper trust.

Sermon Description

What do you do when life feels like chaos and peace seems impossible? Jesus promises us a peace that the world can’t give — a peace that isn’t based on circumstances but rooted in Him. In this message, we’ll look at how Jesus calmed the storm in Mark 4 and how He can bring calm into your storm today.

Whether you’re new to faith or just exploring, this talk is about real peace that holds you together when everything else falls apart.

Small Group Discussion Questions

  1. What are some “false peace” sources you tend to chase (money, approval, control, distraction)? How do they compare to the peace Jesus gives? (John 14:27; John 14:25–27)

  2. When life feels like chaos, do you find yourself turning to Jesus or turning on Him? Why do you think that happens? (Mark 4:37–38; Psalm 84:10)

  3. Think about a “suddenly” storm moment in your life. Looking back, where do you see God’s hand in it now? (Mark 4:35–37)

  4. How can storms shape your faith rather than shrink your view of God? (Mark 4:40; Matthew 8:23–27)

  5. In what ways can we avoid “wasting” a crisis and instead grow in deeper obedience and trust? (Mark 4:41)

2 Deep Journal Questions

  1. When my life feels like chaos, where am I really placing my trust — in control, in escape, or in Jesus?

  2. What “other side” is God calling me to right now, and what storms might He be using to prepare me for it?
