Fall Forward - "Hope You Can Hold Onto"

Fall Forward – Hope You Can Hold On To

Key Scriptures: 1 Peter 1:3–5 ; Hebrews 6:19–20 ; Psalm 20:7 ; 1 Samuel 14:6

Big Idea:
When everything feels uncertain, hope isn’t wishful thinking — it’s holding on to what’s already been given through Jesus.
Real hope doesn’t deny reality; it anchors us in it.

1. Hope Is Not Wishing — It’s Trusting
	•	Wishing is whining; hope is trusting.
	•	Hope looks not at what’s missing but at Who’s faithful.
	•	Psalm 20:7 — Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord.
Quote: “Some of our anxiety comes from wishing for something when our hope should be in Someone.”

2. Hope Is Not Wanting — It’s Possessing
	•	Hope isn’t wanting what you don’t have; it’s living out what’s already yours in Christ.
	•	1 Peter 1:3–5 — Born again to a living hope.
	•	When you pray for what you already have, you’ll never experience the joy of answered prayer.
Quote: “You can’t hold on to what’s yours if you keep acting like it isn’t.”

3. Hope Is Not Wavering — It’s Anchored
	•	Hope isn’t circumstantial; it’s steady even when life shakes.
	•	Hebrews 6:19–20 — We have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul.
	•	His presence is not a feeling; it’s reality.
Quote: “Hope doesn’t float you above the storm — it anchors you through it.”

Closing Application:

If you’ve been wishing instead of hoping, worrying instead of trusting… try this:
	•	Speak hope out loud. Declare God’s promises over your situation.
	•	Trade your “what ifs” for “even ifs.” God is faithful even when outcomes change.
	•	Anchor your morning. Start the day with a verse before you scroll.
	•	Name what’s steady. God’s character, His Word, His presence.
	•	Pray with gratitude, not panic. Thank Him for what He’s already done before asking for what’s next.
	•	Reach out to someone else. Hope multiplies when it’s shared.
	•	Remember who holds you. You don’t have to hold it all together — He does

Sermon Description

When life feels unstable, what do you hold on to?  This message digs into 1 Peter 1:3–5 and Hebrews 6:19–20, reminding us that real hope isn’t a wish, a feeling, or a circumstance — it’s a Person.

You’ll discover how to:

  • Stop wishing and start trusting

  • Stop wanting and start possessing

  • Stop wavering and stay anchored

If you’ve been tired, anxious, or unsure about what’s next — this is the kind of hope you can hold on to.
